Terms of Use
Effective date: 14 October 2026 · Version: 1.0
1. About these Terms
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Stacks (“Stacks”, “we”, “us”). They apply to the Stacks apps for iPhone and Android, the website stacks.ltd and its pages on api.stacks.ltd, our emails and Stacks events (the “Service”).
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. These Terms are an electronic record under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and do not need a signature.
2. Who can join
- You must be 18 or older and able to enter into a binding contract under Indian law.
- Stacks is invite-only. You can join with an invite code from Stacks or by scanning the code at a Stacks event. We may decline, pause or end a membership at our discretion.
- Sign up with a personal email address that you control. One account per person.
- Your profile must be about you and be accurate: your real name, your real company and a photo of yourself.
3. Your account
- We sign you in with one-time codes sent to your email. Never share a code. Stacks will never ask you for one.
- You are responsible for what happens on your account. If you think someone else has used it, tap “This wasn’t me” in the alert we send, or write to support@stacks.ltd.
- You can delete your account at any time in the app (Settings → Delete account) or by writing to us. The Privacy Policy explains what is deleted.
4. Community rules
Stacks works because members trust each other. We do not tolerate objectionable content or abusive behaviour. You agree not to:
- harass, threaten, stalk or discriminate against anyone, or make unwanted advances, in the app or at events;
- use contact details or profiles you see on Stacks for spam, mass messages, cold sales campaigns, recruiting databases or anything the member would not expect;
- scrape, copy, export or collect member data, by automated means or by hand;
- pretend to be someone else, create fake profiles, or misrepresent your company or role;
- share or forward event codes to let in people who were not invited, or try to get around check-in, the door, waitlists or capacity limits;
- post anything unlawful, defamatory, obscene, hateful or infringing, anything that invades someone’s privacy, or anything else prohibited by Rule 3(1)(b) of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021;
- reverse engineer, interfere with, overload or try to get unauthorised access to the Service;
- use Stacks for anything illegal under Indian law.
You can block or report any member from their profile or a request. We review reports and act on them promptly, which can include removing content and suspending or closing the accounts responsible.
5. Events
- Stacks events are curated. Registration can be instant, by request and approval, waitlisted or capacity-limited, as shown on each event.
- Registering does not guarantee entry if you break these Terms or the venue’s rules, arrive outside the check-in window, or if the event changes or is cancelled.
- Follow the venue’s rules and the instructions of the Stacks team.
- You are responsible for your own conduct and safety at events and meetups, and for your belongings. Stacks does not vet attendees beyond its invite process. Venues are run by third parties under their own rules.
- We may take photos and videos at events for Stacks’ own community communications. Tell the team at the event if you do not want to appear, and we will respect that.
6. Meeting people
- At an event you can mark other attendees Interested or Skip. If you mark someone Interested, they can see that you are interested in meeting them. If you are both Interested, you are connected.
- After an event you can send a request to connect to people you met there.
- Phone and WhatsApp numbers are shared only as described in the Privacy Policy. Use them respectfully, and only to follow up on your Stacks connection.
- Stacks does not check members’ backgrounds or verify what they say about themselves. Use your own judgement before doing business with anyone you meet.
7. Spotlight, Partner with Stacks, beta testing and suggestions
- Spotlight: applying does not guarantee selection. If you are selected, the separate Spotlight consent you accept in the app governs how we create, publish and share content with you. There is no payment or revenue share unless agreed in writing.
- Partner with Stacks and beta testing: we review applications at our discretion. Approval may give you extra tools or early features. Use them only for the purpose given; we can withdraw them at any time.
- Suggestions: if you suggest an event or venue, you confirm that you are allowed to share any contact details you include. We may contact the host and use your suggestion without any obligation or payment.
8. Your content
- You keep ownership of what you add: your profile, photo, bio and messages to us.
- You give Stacks a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, display and adapt that content only to run the Service (for example, to show your profile to other members). This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for content already shared with others or kept as the law requires.
- You confirm you have the rights to anything you upload, including your photo.
9. No ads, no selling data
Stacks does not show ads and does not sell your personal data or use it to target ads. See the Privacy Policy for how we use data.
10. Fees
The Service is free for members today. If we introduce paid events or features, we will show the price, taxes and refund terms before you pay, and those terms will apply to that purchase.
11. Our intellectual property
The Stacks name, logo, app design and software belong to us or our licensors. You may not copy, modify or use them without our written permission, except as needed to use the Service.
12. Suspension and termination
We may warn you, limit features, remove content, cancel a registration, or suspend or close your account if you break these Terms, if the law requires it, or to protect members. Where reasonable, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond. You can stop using Stacks and delete your account at any time.
13. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the maximum extent permitted by law. We do not promise that the Service will always be available, secure or free of errors, or that any connection, meetup, event or opportunity will lead to a particular result.
14. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Stacks is not liable for:
- any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages;
- any loss of profits, revenue, business, goodwill or data;
- anything arising from the conduct or content of members or other people, online or offline, including at meetups and events, at third-party venues, or in third-party content or services.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid Stacks in the 12 months before the claim. The Service is free, so that amount is zero unless you have bought something from us. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
15. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify Stacks against claims, losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) brought by others that arise from your content, your conduct, your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Service or of other members’ data.
16. Grievances and contact
Questions or complaints about the Service or about content on it can be sent to our Grievance Officer:
Grievance Officer, Stacks — support@stacks.ltd
We acknowledge and resolve complaints within the timelines required by applicable law, including the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 (currently, acknowledgement within 24 hours and resolution within 15 days).
17. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. We will first try to resolve any dispute through good-faith discussion for 30 days. If that does not work, the dispute will be decided by the courts in India, without affecting any rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
18. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We will post the new version here with its date and, for important changes, tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. If you keep using the Service after that, you accept the new Terms.
19. General
If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we do not enforce a right, we have not given it up. You may not transfer these Terms; we may transfer them to a successor, including a company set up to run Stacks. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and Stacks about the Service.
